Frequently Asked Questions
What is tallyball?
Tallyball is an indoor team sport invented in 2015 that combines elements of many other sports. Whereas in association football, for instance, there is only 1 way to score (i.e. to kick the ball into the goal), there are 6 ways to score in tallyball—7 ways if you count a "touch," which is the opposing team accidentally scoring on itself. Check out the Rules page for details.
What is the World Tallyball League?
The World Tallyball League—or the WTL—organizes, promotes, and regulates the sport of tallyball.
How do I register my team with the WTL?
Visit the Join page and fill out the form. If you are part of a WTL team one of your team members registered, then you should already be automatically registered. After registering your team, email communication with your WTL representative will be established. The team member who registers should share this email with the other members in case they have questions.
How much does it cost to register my team with the WTL?
It costs nothing! Joining the WTL is free.
How many people can be on a team?
Three (3) to six (6) members can be on a team. For each official tallyball game, each side has 3 players.
How do I update the members on my team?
Take a photograph of the team after the change and email your WTL representative, attaching the photograph.
How should my team train?
Your team should refer to the Resources page to obtain the proper equipment, and then your team should schedule practices soon! The WTL is not responsible for your team's training and possible accidents that may happen during training.
How does my team compete with another team?
Registered WTL teams will be notified of upcoming tournaments and competitions.
Who can officially play for the WTL?
Any capable person 13 years or older who is not prone to injury may join a team and play for the WTL. Team membership is not otherwise limited to age, gender, race, political affiliation, religion, caste, social class, income, ethnicity, and other factors. We do ask, however, that member of the same team be from the same geographical area. Members of a team can be of different nationalities as long as they live in proximity. This is not necessary, but it makes training and communication easier.
How is the WTL Championship organized?
Local, regular season tournaments occur year-round. Teams that accumulate 2 wins in regular season tournaments qualify for the annual Championship, which is a set of tournaments intended to find the best team in the world. Eligible teams first compete in regional tournaments, the winners being deemed "finalists." Finalists compete in the Finals, a double-elimination tournament that culminates in a Grand Final match to determine the champion.
